About the Event
A group of TGNCNB people identified as mentors, mentees, elders, gatekeepers, freedom fighters, social justice warriors, community advocates and members whose voices unite, inspire and is critical to the fight for “BIPOC Transgender Equality.”
To provide you with a little more background, about a year and a half ago, a conversation between Mozaic staff, members of Black Trans Men of Ohio (B.T.M.O) and other community members began about the need to generate more discussion, info sharing, education and communication within the Black, Indigenous, People of Color Transgender + community (BIPOCT+). The folx at the table agreed that open and direct conversations around how gender & sexuality intersect BIPOCT+ lives and the results of those interactions were critical to healing the trauma-informed parts of our lives.
The statistics are sobering regarding BIPOCT+ communities. With regard to health, housing and employment disparities, we all agreed that working in silos for the TGNCNB communities needed addressing. The ways in which Midwestern BIPOCT+ communities do not mimic the coastal or large metropolitan cities are necessary conversations in regards to resources, education and support.
We agreed, that there is no better way than asking folx to come share meals, dare to dream, and be radically and intentionally truth bearing with the goal to build relations that strengthen community voice. Mozaic and BTMO have all collaborated to welcome you to a braver space for BIPOC+ community building. Come lean into a community of action-takers.
