T-Man Talk is a private, affirming virtual community space created for Black transgender men and Black transmasculine and nonbinary people across Ohio.
Through honest conversation, shared experiences, community education, and connection, participants can build relationships with people who understand the intersections of being Black and trans, without having to explain or defend who they are.

T-Man Talk is a peer-support and community-building program. It is not group therapy or a substitute for professional mental-health care.
Who Is T-Man Talk For?
T-Man Talk is designed for adults who identify as:

Black transmasculine people

Black nonbinary people who were assigned female at birth
Whether you are questioning, beginning your transition, have been living openly for years, or do not personally use the word “transition,” you are welcome to explore whether this community is right for you.
You do not have to live in Columbus to participate. Black Transmen of Ohio serves communities throughout Ohio, including Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, and surrounding areas.
Virtual meetings make it possible to connect from across the state.
A Private and Respectful Space
Protecting the privacy and safety of our community is important to us.
T-Man Talk is a closed community gathering rather than a public event. Participants may be asked to register before receiving meeting details. Everyone is expected to respect the identities, experiences, names, pronouns, and privacy of others.
What is shared in the group should remain within the group unless someone gives permission for their information to be shared.
Screenshots, photography and audio or video recording are not permitted unless clearly announced and agreed to in advance by everyone affected.
How T-Man Talk Works
1. Find an Upcoming Gathering
Review the upcoming meeting information and select the gathering you would like to attend.
2. Complete the Registration Form
Provide the information needed to confirm that T-Man Talk is an appropriate community space for you.
3. Receive the Private Meeting Details
Approved participants receive the location or virtual access information before the gathering.
4. Come as You Are
You are encouraged to participate in the way that feels most comfortable. You may speak, listen, ask questions, share resources, or simply spend time in community.
What to Expect at Your First T-Man Talk
When you join the virtual meeting, an organizer will welcome you and explain how the gathering will work. Meetings generally include introductions, a community check-in, shared agreements, and a facilitated discussion or activity.
You will never be required to share personal information or speak before you are ready.
Before joining, consider participating from a private location and using headphones if needed to help protect your privacy. If you need an accommodation to participate, let us know when registering. We will make reasonable efforts to support your access needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is T-Man Talk open to allies, partners, or family members? Regular T-Man Talk gatherings are reserved for members of the community described above. BTMO may occasionally offer separate public programs where partners, family members, professionals, and allies are welcome.
Can I attend if I live outside Columbus? Yes. T-Man Talk serves eligible community members throughout Ohio. Virtual gatherings help people participate from Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, and communities across the state.
Is the group confidential? Participants are expected to protect one another’s privacy and not share personal information outside the gathering. Screenshots, photography, and recording are prohibited unless everyone affected agrees in advance. However, BTMO cannot guarantee the actions of every participant.
How will I receive the virtual meeting link? Because T-Man Talk is a private virtual community space, the meeting link and access information are provided directly to confirmed participants. Please do not forward or share the link.
Do I have to be medically or legally transitioning? No. There is no requirement to pursue hormones, surgery, a legal name change, or any other medical or legal step.
Do I have to talk during the meeting? No. You may participate at your own comfort level. Listening is a valid form of participation. You may also choose whether to use your camera, consistent with the meeting guidelines.
Is T-Man Talk therapy? No. T-Man Talk offers peer support and community connection, but it is not therapy, counseling, crisis care, or medical treatment.
